Pittsburgh Lawyer Tyra Oliver to Serve on Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors

HARRISBURG (May 8, 2017) — Pittsburgh lawyer Tyra Oliver, staff attorney at the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, will serve a three-year term as the at-large minority governor on the Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors. Her term will begin on May 12 at the conclusion of the PBA Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh.

Oliver previously worked as an assistant district attorney in Allegheny County.

Active in the organized bar, Oliver is completing two-year terms as secretary of the PBA Young Lawyers Division and as co-vice chair of the PBA Minority Bar Committee. She previous served as a member in the PBA House of Delegates, the association’s policymaking body, and as co-vice chair of the PBA Legal Services to the Public Committee.

Oliver also serves on the Allegheny County Bar Association Board of Governors and is completing a term as co-chair of the association’s Diversity Collaborative Committee. She previously served as chair of the Homer S. Brown Division, which supports the professional interests of the association’s African-American members, and was treasurer of the Young Lawyers Division.

Also active in the community, Oliver is a member of the Provident Charter School Board and previously served as vice president of the YWCA Young Leaders Board and was a mentor at the WISE mentoring program at the Urban Pathways Charter School that helps girls prepare for college.

Oliver holds degrees from Kent State University and Duquesne University School of Law.
