Chair's Welcome

Alissa Eden Halperin, Esq.

Welcome to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Elder Law Section page. If you are already a member, welcome. If you are a visitor, welcome to you as well.

The stated mission of PBA’s Elder Law Section is to help attorneys meet the needs of their clients through the exchange of ideas and information on substantive elder law issues. The Section also promotes improvement in substantive law, legal education, and ethical guidelines. In this regard, some of the Section’s recent and ongoing initiatives include:

  • An active e-mail listserv through which members answer other members’ questions, share experiences, and provide updates and resources.
  • Monthly conference calls with Pennsylvania Department of Aging Secretary Robert Torres and the Section Council.
  • Continued efforts of our Legislative Review Committee (RLC) to closely track and respond to proposed legislation concerning elder law issues.
  • A regularly published, informative Elder Law Section newsletter that is sent to all section members and posted on our webpage.
  • Collaboration with and appointment of liaisons from the Young Lawyers Division and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.

In closing, if you are interested in volunteering and becoming more active in the Section, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. If you are not a member, please consider joining our Section!
