Pennsylvania Bar Association Honors Philadelphia Bar Association Executive Director

HARRISBURG (Feb. 24, 2017) — The Conference of County Bar Leaders (CCBL) of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) has honored Mark A. Tarasiewicz, executive director of the Philadelphia Bar Association, with its 20th annual Arthur J. Birdsall Award. The award was presented to Tarasiewicz during the 51st Annual Seminar of the Conference of County Bar Leaders, Feb. 23 – 25, in State College.

The award is presented to a county bar executive who demonstrates professional excellence, who is committed to the success of his or her bar association and who significantly enhances the stature of his or her bar association. It is named in honor of Arthur J. Birdsall, the PBA's county bar services director who retired after nearly 40 years of support to local bar associations.

For more than 21 years, Tarasiewicz has served the Philadelphia Bar Association in several roles — most recently in the role of executive director for the past three years.  He has paved the way for numerous innovative programs, such as expanding its Law School Outreach Program and instituting an ongoing series of law firm visits.

Tarasiewicz is an active member of the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) and the Pennsylvania Association of Bar Executives (PABE), serving as a frequent speaker for both organizations, and former chair of NABE’s Communications Section.

He is also an appointed member of the Metropolitan Bar Caucus Executive Committee, the governing board of the National Conference of Bar Presidents.

Tarasiewicz received a B.A. from Temple University.
