Pennsylvania Bar Association Statement on COVID-19 and Racism

Harrisburg (March 30, 2020) – Pennsylvania Bar Association President Anne N. John has issued the following statement regarding COVID-19 and racism:

“At this time of world crisis, all people must come together in spirit and in action to demonstrate compassion for all humanity and to eliminate the scourge of this virus.

As an association of lawyers and judges, we stand together to protect the rights of everyone. Racist statements and acts of violence against those of Asian-Pacific heritage cannot be tolerated.

As the scientific and medical experts are telling us, no country and no race will be spared from this virus. All of humanity will share in the suffering.

Each of us must choose compassion today and every day. Our civil society depends on it.”
